Privacy Policy
BloatedGoat (“we”) is an iOS app that helps you estimate whether a food is likely to cause bloating. This policy explains what leaves your device, what stays on it, and who else may see a lookup.
We do not run an account or analytics backend
There is no BloatedGoat account, no sign-in, and no BloatedGoat server that stores your analyses. We do not sell personal information. We do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across apps or websites.
What stays on your iPhone
- Food analyses, history, dietary preferences, and insight filters
- Ingredient-list photos used for on-device text recognition — the image is not uploaded
- Optional local check-in reminders, which include the food name only on your device
- Subscription status as reported by Apple on this Apple ID
Deleting the app deletes this on-device data. We cannot recover it.
What leaves your device
When you search, pick a suggestion, or scan a barcode, BloatedGoat sends the food name or barcode to public databases so it can fetch ingredients. Those requests are not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID.

Those services have their own privacy policies. They may log IP address and request details as part of ordinary web traffic. BloatedGoat does not receive a copy of that log from them.
Camera access is used only to read a barcode or an ingredient list. Barcodes go to Open Food Facts. Ingredient photos are processed on device and are not sent to us or to those databases.
Purchases
The yearly unlimited subscription is billed by Apple. Apple processes payment under Apple’s privacy policy. BloatedGoat does not receive your card number, billing address, or a BloatedGoat-side purchase history database.
Children
BloatedGoat is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Health disclaimer
BloatedGoat is an educational tool. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It does not use HealthKit and does not upload health records.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
